Ways to Improve Warehouse Safety

April 14, 2020 by Meg Crone

Warehouse safety is very important for the satisfaction of workers and the profitability and productivity of businesses. There is always room for improvement! Here are a few steps to improve your warehouse safety.

  1. Forklift Safety Lights and Alarms

By adding forklift attachments like back up lights and cameras, you can help pedestrians and workers stay safe in your warehouse. These give more awareness of incoming forklifts.

  1. Warehouse Lighting

Good lighting can help improve the likelihood of tripping and falling, damaging product, and forklift accidents. OSHA has a minimum lighting requirement in warehouses. Through better lighting, there is less risk within your business.

  1. Operator Safety Training

Through regular training, you can ensure that your workers have the most up to date practices are being used within your warehouse. Is your crew on the same page with safe operation, how to respond to accidents and daily walkarounds?

  1. Proper Forklift Maintenance

Make sure that you are maintaining proper forklift service intervals. Without proper service, you are putting your operators and other employees at risk for injuries because of the failure of your equipment. Through taking proper care of your equipment, you can ensure high performance and productivity.

Use all of these tips to improve the safety of your warehouse and ultimately run your business at your best!
