Mike Cottam, Controller, FFC, Inc.
Often, when we consider business “success stories” we think of a particular customer who may have been helped in a very measurable way. More times than not, it’s because the solution provided may have solved some particular problem or issue, or the pricing was such that it was just too good of a deal to pass up. Not very often do you hear from someone who you didn’t do business with! That’s exactly what happened with our friends over at Floats and Fuel Cells.
Mike Cottam, Controller for FFC, Inc. sent us a wonderful message about an experience that he had with the rental department at our Memphis branch. In short, FFC had a huge project coming to fruition and needed a one-day rental for a large piece of equipment to handle a very “unique” and delicate product. Cottam had visited our Memphis location in hopes of securing the needle in the haystack but wasn’t successful in finding what he needed. Still determined to help out, Kristen Lemaster, rental coordinator, continued her search in hopes of finding a solution for FFC’s dilemma. Cottam found his solution elsewhere, but to his surprise, was very impressed when he received word from Lemaster that she had been searching and thought she had found an alternate solution.
Even though the final decision was made to go with a friendly competitor, it was her persistence and willingness to help out that won Cottam over. He states in his message that “I ask myself this question. “How much could The Lilly Company benefit from a one-day rental?” I can only speculate it would not be an amount of any significance to your bottom line and probably not considered a deal worth chasing, due to all the work it would take to make it happen, but that was of no concern to Kristen Lemaster and you just proved to me that you were out to take care of us!” He continues, “Thank you so much for working hard to meet our needs. Although we weren’t able to do business this time, you can bet your bottom dollar any time we feel The Lilly Company can accommodate our needs, that is the direction we will look.”
Thank you, Mike, for your comments and we look forward to earning your business in the future!
