Believe in Bigfoot: A Versatile Alternative to Pickup Trucks and Golf Carts

Believe in Bigfoot: A Versatile Alternative to Pickup Trucks and Golf Carts
Advantages of Taylor-Dunn Bigfoot Electric Utility Vehicles
6:00

Taylor-Dunn’s Bigfoot is a highly customizable electric cart that can be used in place of:

  • A golf cart
  • Burden carrier or other industrial cart
  • A pickup truck

Yes, you read that right: a Bigfoot can do many of the same jobs as a pickup truck at a fraction of the price. If you don’t believe it, keep reading to see a video of a Bigfoot XL towing an 8500 lb. helicopter.

Taylor-Dunn Bigfoot Electric Utility Vehicles

Though Bigfoots aren’t street-legal, they can drive down sidewalks and operate indoors, unlike most pickup trucks. These versatile electric carts have a range up to 60 miles and are available with maintenance-free absorbed glass-mat (AGM) or lithium-ion batteries.

Flexible charging also comes standard. The onboard charger is compatible with single-phase 110V or 220V outlets. Upgrade to a lithium-ion battery to take advantage of opportunity charging.

Bigfoot electric carts come in three sizes: small, standard and XL. All three sizes come with:

  • Hydraulic disc brakes
  • USB charging ports
  • Hill-hold
  • Regenerative braking
  • A battery shut-off timer

Operator comfort and safety features include:

  • Adjustable bucket seats
  • Tilt steering
  • Low step height
  • Strong sight lines
  • Large pedals
  • Emergency off switch
  • Operator presence buzzer
  • Durable, non-slip flooring

Bigfoot Applications: Maintenance, Warehousing and More

Here in the Mid-South, you’ll find Bigfoot in manufacturing and warehouse operations and transporting maintenance crews in a variety of industries.

Bigfoot electric carts also make great utility vehicles for corporate and college campuses. As an additional safety measure, they can be speed-limited to 10 mph.

Taylor-Dunn utility vehicles are quiet, eco-friendly and low maintenance. They come with a four-year parts and labor warranty and are trusted by:

  • The Department of Defense
  • NASA
  • The Department of Energy (DOE)
  • The National Park Service (NPS)

The comparison chart below shows all three Taylor-Dunn Bigfoot models. Scroll down for more information on each one.

Bigfoot XL Specs

Bed Size: 54” wide x 77” long

Towing capacity: up to 10,000 lbs.

Payload capacity: up to 3000 lbs.

Power: 48V AC

Max speed: 18 mph

Range: up to 60 miles

Charge time: 10-13 hours

The Bigfoot XL has a 3,000-lb load capacity and a 10,000-lb towing capacity. It out-muscles the Chevy Silverado 1500 and (non-turbo) Ford F-150s. Here’s a video of a Bigfoot towing a Eurocopter 350.

Bigfoot Specs

The standard Bigfoot is very similar to the Bigfoot XL with two differences. Instead of a 10,000 lb. towing capacity, the standard Bigfoot can only tow 7500 lbs. But that’s still a lot — the equivalent of 31 bags of cement.

The truck bed is the same length (77”), but it’s 10 inches narrower, only 44”. This narrower width allows Bigfoot to access areas where full-size work trucks and vans can’t fit.

Bed Size: 44” wide x 77” long

Towing capacity: up to 7500 lbs.

Payload capacity: up to 3000 lbs.

Power: 48V AC

Max speed: 18 mph

Range: up to 60 miles

Charge time: 10-13 hours

Bigfoot also performs well on inclines. The video below shows a Bigfoot hauling a 2000 lb. pallet up a steep grade with no problem.

Bigfoot S Specs

The smallest Taylor-Dunn Bigfoot is the Bigfoot S. It has a 2000 lb. load capacity (equivalent to 21 bags of cement) and can tow 5000 lbs. The small size gives the Bigfoot S a tight turning radius of only 115”. It can go anywhere a golf cart can and handle bigger jobs.

Bed Size: 44” wide x 65”

Towing capacity: up to 5000 lbs.

Payload capacity: up to 2000 lbs.

Power: 36V AC

Max speed: 11 mph

Range: up to 50 miles

Charge time: 8-10 hours

Customize Your Bigfoot

One of the reasons Bigfoot electric carts are so popular is because they are so versatile.

For example, if you need to transport more than two people, order your Bigfoot with a foldaway row of seats. If you need to transport more than four people, Bigfoot can tow a cart equipped with benches.

Limit access to your Bigfoot by adding an enclosed cab with steel doors and steel lockboxes on the deck. You can even use a Bigfoot as a dump truck.

Other customization options include:

  • Strobe light pole
  • Non-marking tires
  • Aluminum drop-down sides
  • Stake sides with end gate
  • Enclosed cab with vinyl or steel doors
  • Steel lock box(es)
  • Ladder rack
  • Hitch or pintle hitch
  • Diamond plate deck board

Turf tires are available, but the Bigfoot is not designed to be used on uneven or muddy terrain. If you need a vehicle that can go off-road, we recommend UTVs for farms, ranches and other rough terrain applications.
